I’m so curious, I see you use learning language arts through literature for older grades, what made you choose all about reading for the younger grades instead? I’ve been considering their first grade blue unit for my son, but I don’t currently have any friends that use it.
Yes good question! I’ve used All About Reading in kindergarten as the first way to introduce phonics and reading instruction. I only switched from AAR to Learning LA Through Literature for my older kids when they aged out of direct phonics instruction and I needed to incorporate more writing, comprehension, grammar. AAR is great for phonics, but there’s no grammar, writing, or much comprehension practice. The blue unit looks really good too.
